Countries agreed to collectively triple renewable energy capacity under the landmark Global Stocktake in pursuit of limiting warming to 1.5ºC. And although recent years have seen a rapid scale-up of these zero-carbon power sources, global efforts are still falling short of what’s needed to keep this Paris Agreement temperature limit within reach. Not one of the power sector indicators assessed in the State of Climate Action 2025 is on track for 2030.
Countries now need to advance action at an unprecedented pace over the next five years, from implementing policies that can support large-scale deployment of renewables, to forging innovative partnerships that unlock finance, to pursuing strategies to ensure a just transition away from fossil fuels.
So, where are we seeing faster-than-expected power sector decarbonization within countries, where are roadblocks hindering these efforts and how are countries navigating these barriers?
In this session, hear key findings from the State of Climate Action 2025 and learn what it will take to get the world on track. A presentation of the report’s high-level findings will be followed by a panel discussion focused on the power sector during which country leaders will share insights about how they are rapidly scaling up renewable energy and lessons they’ve learned along the way.

Where to find us: enter the COP30 Blue Zone pavilion space (Area B). Identify the Italian Pavilion (pyramid structure) off the central walkway, and then turn down the corridor so that the pyramid is to your right. Follow the corridor just past the Business Pavilion until you reach the Global Renewables Hub. The Renewable Energy Action Pavilion is just beside the Hub, and opposite the Business Pavilion.
